Recently I visited Thailand and Indonesia for my annual vacation. When I was in Bangkok and Jakarta, I saw several people sipping coconut water when they were outdoors.
In the United States, we are used to seeing people hold a can of beer or soda when they are outdoors at the zoo or music festival. There it is common to see even little kids carrying a young coconut with a straw to get the natural juice inside. This explains why Asians do not have any problem with obesity.
So I decided to try the natural coconut water. The cost was less than 1 USD per drink. The waiter asked me whether I wanted it in a glass or straight out of the coconut. I thought it would be interesting to drink it out of the coconut itself.
I did not regret this experience. The drink was tasty and I felt refreshed and hydrated afterwards. The weather was hot, but now I had energy to keep walking and enjoy the tropical sun.
